US Open ATP Day 7 Recap
Novak Djokovic would get defaulted from the US Open in the first set of his match, Denis Shapovalov would move on to his maiden Grand Slam quarterfinals, and much more at the US Open.

US Open ATP Day 7 Results
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs. Alexander Zverev (5)
2020 Australian Open Semifinalist Alexander Zverev would have no issues defeating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in their match today.
In the opening set, Zverev would get two breaks of Davidovich Fokina’s serve to take the set 6-2. In the second set, down 0-2, Zverev would win six games in a row to take the set 6-2.
In the third set, after dropping the first game, Zverev would once again win six games in a row to take the set 6-1 and the match 6-2, 6-2, 6-1.
Novak Djokovic (1) vs. Pablo Carreno Busta (20)
Down 5-6 in the opening set of his match against Pablo Carreno Busta, Novak Djokovic would accidentally hit a line judge with a ball in frustration.
Due to this act, Djokovic was defaulted from the US Open and Pablo Carreno Busta will advance to the next round.
Borna Coric (27) vs. Jordan Thompson
The twenty-seventh seeded Borna Coric would get a solid straight-sets victory over Australian Jordan Thompson today. In the opening set, Coric would get two breaks of Thompson’s serve to take the set 7-5.
In the second set, down 0-1, Coric would win six games in a row to take the set 6-1. In the third set, Coric would get another break to take the set 6-3 and the match 7-5, 6-1, 6-3.
Denis Shapovalov (12) vs. David Goffin (7)
In the last singles match of the day, Denis Shapovalov and David Goffin would battle for a spot in the quarterfinals. In the opening set, neither player would drop a single service game en route to a tiebreak.
In the tiebreak, Goffin would dominate, taking the tiebreak 7-0 to take the set 7-6 (7-0). In the second set, Shapovalov would respond by getting a break of Goffin’s serve to take the set 6-3.
In the third set, Shapovalov would follow his impressive second set by getting another break of Goffin’s serve and taking the set 6-4. In the fourth set, Shapovalov would takeover, taking the set 6-3 to win the match 6-7 (0-7), 6-3, 6-4, 6-3.
C.Eubanks / M.McDonald (wc) vs. R.Ram / J.Salisbury (3)
The third-seeded doubles team of Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury would pull off a relatively easy win over the team of Christopher Eubanks and Mackenzie McDonald today.
In the opening set, Ram and Salisbury would get two breaks of their opponents’ serve to take the set 6-2. In the second set, each team would break the other’s serve once on their way to a tiebreak.
In the tiebreak, Ram and Salisbury would prevail, 7-5, to take the set 7-6 (7-5) and the match 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
W.Koolhof / N.Mektic (8) vs. S.Gille / J.Vliegen
The eighth-seeded doubles team of Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektic would take care of business today against Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen.
In the opening set, neither team would drop a single service game en route to a tiebreak. In the tiebreak, Koolhof and Mektic would win, 8-6, to take the set 7-6 (8-6).
In the second set, Koolhof and Mektic would only need one break of serve to take the set 6-3 and the match 7-6 (8-6), 6-3.
